Getting married is a celebration of family, and a rustic and stylish wedding at Becky’s Aunt and Uncle’s
farm in Penetanguishene, Ontario was the perfect place for Becky and Ian to unite their two families.
This New Jersey couple has several relatives in the GTA, so a Simcoe County wedding allowed them to
bring everyone together for a laidback country celebration.
Bridesmaids selected their own dresses to best reflect their personal style, matching the champagne and
blush colour themes of the day. The groomsmen brought a country chic, resort feel to the festivities
with their crisp linen suits and carefully coordinated white runners. The bride looked stunning in a
classic and elegant white gown.
The ceremony was out of a fairy tale, offering a tranquil, sunlit backdrop for the couple’s traditional
Jewish ceremony featuring a ketubah (marriage contract signed by two witnesses), a chuppah (wedding
canopy) set over birch branches, and the breaking of a glass. The ceremony was funny, light, and
emotional, expertly officiated by a close friend of the couple who also happens to be an actor with
fantastic comedic timing.
The farm offered a variety of picturesque locations for our portrait session including the field, forest, cabin,
and vintage camper. The couple integrated nature throughout their wedding using greenery, tree
boughs and branches, and delicate white blossoms to adorn the space.
The sunset cocktail reception overlooking the lake was the perfect place to toast the newlyweds. Becky
and Ian made their grand entrance as husband and wife atop a John Deere ATV. The dinner reception
was a casual barbeque, where guests could truly kick back and relax. Instead of table numbers, Becky
and Ian leaned into their farm backdrop using small harvest-inspired pictures of fruit to demark the
different tables. Speeches from family and friends were both entertaining and emotional.
Rain moved in later in the evening, bringing all the guests into the tent for a fantastic party. A lively crowd
packed the dancefloor for the Hora and the remainder of the festivities.
This is the second wedding I have been fortunate enough to photograph at this charming
Penetanguishene farm. Becky and Ian had a sustainable approach to their wedding planning, reusing
much of the décor and signage from her cousin’s 2016 wedding at the same family farm. Click here to
