Shannon and Spencer’s wedding at the Toronto Golf Club was truly unique. They basically took your typical wedding day timeline and completely flipped it around, and for good reason. They really wanted their official wedding date to May 31st (a Sunday) so it would coincide with Shannon’s grandparent’s anniversary, but they didn’t want their wedding on a Sunday. The solution?…a midnight ceremony of course. Their ceremony took place in two parts; a private ceremony witnessed by just myself and my assistant Sarah, followed by all the regular post ceremony festivities (guests arriving, cocktail reception, dinner, dancing, cake-cut, home made games like bean bag toss, giant Jenga and Connect 4) and then at midnight, all the guests gathered for the official ceremony. Everyone already had a bellyful of food, a few glasses of wine and had been dancing up a storm so it was the perfect way to end the night.
Scheduling aside, it also rained…a lot. There was torrential downpour pretty much all day and all night. But by some miracle the rain completely clear for exactly the hour we had to take the formal portraits. The light was lovely and hazy and Shannon and Spencer had no qualms about bombing around in a decorated golf cart and trekking through the wet forest to make the most of the beautiful grounds.
