Kevin and Jackie’s Eclectic Toronto Wedding at the Junction Brewery

Setting the tone of the day was Jackie’s fabulous wedding shoes by John Fluevog. Rich in colour, fanciful in shape and design, these whimsical shoes set the stage for a spring wedding in Toronto filled with classic romance sprinkled with spontaneity.

Jackie has amazing attention to detail, and she knows people look and feel their best when they wear what they love. For that reason, she told her bridesmaids to choose their gowns with no particular guidelines. Each bridesmaid chose a dress that made them feel beautiful, and that sense of comfort and confidence shined through in the laughter we captured during the getting ready at the home where Jackie & Kevin both prepared for the day.

Something I enjoyed about Jackie was her love for family, and their close connection radiated in every frame.  When Jackie’s father walked in for the reveal, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as the two embraced.

Downstairs was full of laughter and jokes as Kevin, and his friends and family got ready. His love for life, his singing, and his jokes make him the most fun person to be around. The way he hugged Jackie and the look on Jackie’s face when she came down the stairs for her reveal says it all; how lucky are they to have found each other?

Adventuring our way to Ravina Park, what I love about the Junction Neighbourhood is that it is stylishly chic with its wrought iron fences and also has soft nature touches like blooming cherry blossom trees. The vibrant murals and gritty graffiti perfectly accented Kevin’s warm laughter and constant smile. This trendy area even had a “Little Free Library,” which was a fun place to capture some goofy moments where laughter and love reigned.

The juxtaposition of their formal wedding attire in a place ignited by colour, art, and creativity in a contemporary way allowed their personalities to shine through while creating inspired wedding portraits that I hope they will cherish for a lifetime.

Of course, nothing makes a statement quite like having a firetruck arrive at your venue, but that’s exactly how this dynamic couple rolls!  This was a fun surprise to everyone, thanks to Kevin’s dad who is a Toronto firefighter.

Jackie & Kevin’s wedding at Junction Brewery was as fresh as it was cool. A unique and unconventional venue, it suited this couple’s style right down to the pipe and wood shelves, and their custom-made coasters which perfectly fit the brewery motif.

Love was brewing as their ceremony took place amongst the working vats and walls lined with kegs. A touching and heartfelt ceremony was punctuated as every guest was given an inflatable baseball bat to “bat flip,” an homage to Jose Bautista’s infamous home-run bat flip.

Friends and family gathered family-style to enjoy Vesuvio’s pizza and homemade Caesar salad, which had been lovingly made by a guest. Again, Jackie’s sense of vintage and eclectic fashion with her eye for detail shone through as she added a bit of romance to this industrial, raw space with mismatched vintage tea party places and farmhouse chairs for their guests.

Just as the whole day had been, the speeches were hilarious and filled with genuine emotion and support for this incredible couple.

The tears were as big as the laughter, and these revellers took to the dancefloor while Glory Hole Doughnuts were served. We ended the night by stepping outside for just a few more moments of love and connection captured underneath the stars, fabulous shoes, and all.
