Fusion was the name of the game at this spring wedding, where Salina and Yang celebrated their union
\nat a venue known to be rich in history and romance, Toronto\u2019s own Palais Royale<\/a>. With a setting that
\njoins both urban and tranquil vibes, overlooking Lake Ontario, this Ismaili and Chinese Fusion wedding
\nbrought together both love and tradition.<\/p>\n

Looking to create a unique experience for their dear friends and family and pay homage to their roots,
\nthis wedding incorporated both a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony<\/a> and the time-honoured Ismaili
\nceremony of stepping on the Sapatia (clay plates, each set filled with lentils to symbolize nature\u2019s
\nbounty – a quarter to indicate wealth, sugar for sweetness and harmony, and turmeric for longevity and
\nhealth) to determine who will rule the house. As loved ones cheered on their respective sides, it was
\nSalina who managed to break their Sapatia first determining, according to this
\ntradition, that she will rule the roost!<\/p>\n

Former prom dates Salina and Yang have been friends since high school, but their romance didn\u2019t
\nblossom until years later. One of my favourite things about the wedding was seeing these former
\nclassmates come together to celebrate this important life milestone.<\/p>\n

The portrait shoot along the Sunnyside boardwalk<\/a> was peppered spring flowers of tulips and daffodils,
\nvibrant coloured attire, along with some with good-natured jokes from their life-long friends. Their
\nclose friends took the opportunity to lighten the mood by teasing the typically reserved couple about
\nthe importance of PDA for their wedding photos.<\/p>\n

A change of attire was in order for the reception with Salina donning a stunning white wedding dress.
\nSince neither Salina or Yang like being the centre of attention, they devised a way to create an intimate
\nfirst dance to Cold Play\u2019s ballad, \u201cYellow\u201d by choreographing a dance routine where their wedding party
\nsurrounded them while holding up a string of mini star lights. This added some privacy for the
\nnewlyweds to enjoy their romantic star-lit moment together.<\/p>\n

Clearly ready for their new roles as a husband and wife team, Yang took over the microphone for Salina
\nwhenever emotion and tears took over in her sweet and loving speech, adding even more humour and
\naffection to this touching moment.<\/p>\n

Friends and family enjoyed a boisterous dance floor fuelled in part by celebratory shots at the bar. The
\nmagical night came to an end when they stepped outside for some moonlit portraits in the crisp spring air.<\/p>\n
