Intimate Toronto Wedding at Home & The Distillery District | Ashley & Brittany

Ashley & Brittany’s Intimate Toronto Wedding After Postponements

Ashley and Brittany first reached out in April 2020, when COVID-19 was still new, and many couples were hopeful their wedding plans wouldn’t be too disrupted. Their original wedding date was set for January 2021 — which, at the time, felt completely realistic. As we all know, things didn’t quite go according to plan.

After multiple postponements and thoughtful pivots, their wedding finally took place in April 2022 — and it was worth the wait.

From The Fermenting Cellar to an Intimate Family Home Celebration

Ashley and Brittany had originally planned to celebrate at The Fermenting Cellar, one of Toronto’s most iconic industrial-chic venues. However, due to ongoing restrictions, they made the heartfelt decision to move the celebration to Brittany’s family home and scale the guest list back to just 10 people.

What could have felt like a compromise instead became something incredibly meaningful. The home was beautifully transformed to host the ceremony and reception, creating a warm, personal atmosphere that perfectly reflected them as a couple.

Getting Ready at The Broadview Hotel

The day began at The Broadview Hotel, a favourite Toronto wedding getting-ready location. The stylish rooms and soft natural light made for beautiful, relaxed pre-ceremony photos.

From there, we made our way to the Distillery District for portraits. April in Toronto had other plans for us — it was absolutely freezing. Despite the cold temperatures, Ashley, Brittany, and their wedding party were absolute troopers. You’d never guess how chilly it was from the photos.

An Emotional At-Home Wedding Ceremony

Back at the house, the ceremony was intimate, emotional, and filled with so much love. With only their closest family present, every moment felt deeply personal.

Afterward, the celebration continued with heartfelt toasts, dancing, and an unforgettable meal by Elle Cuisine. The smaller guest list made the evening feel relaxed and connected — proof that weddings don’t need to be large to be extraordinary.

A Happily Ever After Celebration at The Fermenting Cellar

Later that year, Ashley and Brittany were finally able to gather their extended family and friends at The Fermenting Cellar for their long-awaited “Happily Ever After” party. It was the perfect full-circle moment — celebrating not just their marriage, but everything they had navigated to get there.

Documenting both celebrations was such an honour. Their wedding story is a beautiful reminder that flexibility, resilience, and love are what truly make a wedding day unforgettable.
