Rustic Farm Wedding in Penetanguishene, ON | Becky & Ian

A Rustic Farm Wedding in Penetanguishene

Weddings are ultimately a celebration of family, and Becky and Ian chose the perfect setting to bring their loved ones together, a charming family farm in Penetanguishene, Ontario. The property belongs to Becky’s aunt and uncle and provided the ideal backdrop for a relaxed and stylish countryside celebration.

Although the couple lives in New Jersey, they have many relatives in the Greater Toronto Area, making a Simcoe County wedding the perfect way to gather everyone together for a memorable destination-style celebration in Ontario.

Effortless Country-Chic Wedding Style

The wedding party embraced a relaxed yet elegant aesthetic. Bridesmaids selected their own dresses in shades of champagne and blush, allowing each person’s personal style to shine while still maintaining a cohesive look.

The groomsmen added to the country-chic atmosphere with crisp linen suits and coordinating white runners, creating a laid-back resort-inspired feel. Becky looked stunning in a timeless white gown that perfectly suited the rustic elegance of the day.

A Traditional Jewish Wedding Ceremony

The outdoor ceremony felt like something out of a fairy tale, set against a tranquil, sunlit landscape on the family farm. Becky and Ian honoured Jewish wedding traditions with a meaningful ceremony that included the signing of the ketubah (marriage contract), witnessed by two close friends.

The ceremony took place beneath a chuppah adorned with birch branches, symbolizing the home the couple would build together. One of the most memorable moments came at the end of the ceremony when Ian broke the glass, a symbolic gesture marking the beginning of their marriage.

The ceremony was officiated by a close friend of the couple who also happens to be an actor, bringing the perfect mix of warmth, humour, and emotion to the moment.

Farm Wedding Portraits Surrounded by Nature

The family farm offered a wide variety of beautiful locations for portraits, including open fields, wooded areas, a cozy cabin, and even a charming vintage camper.

Nature-inspired décor elements were woven throughout the wedding design. Greenery, tree branches, and delicate white blossoms added soft organic touches that complemented the rustic setting perfectly.

Sunset Cocktails and a Grand Entrance

Guests gathered for a sunset cocktail hour overlooking the lake, raising glasses to the newlyweds while enjoying the peaceful countryside views.

Becky and Ian made a memorable entrance to the reception as husband and wife by arriving atop a John Deere ATV, adding a fun and playful touch that perfectly suited the relaxed farm setting.

Dinner was served barbecue-style, creating a casual atmosphere where guests could truly unwind and enjoy the evening together. Instead of traditional table numbers, the couple used harvest-inspired fruit illustrations to mark each table, leaning into the farm theme.

Hora Dancing and a Lively Reception

As the evening progressed, rain moved in, and guests gathered inside the tent for the reception festivities. The lively crowd quickly filled the dance floor, especially for the traditional Hora dance, which had everyone cheering and celebrating together.

Speeches from family and friends throughout the evening were both heartfelt and entertaining, making the celebration even more meaningful.

A Sustainable Family Wedding Tradition

This was actually the second wedding I’ve had the pleasure of photographing at this beautiful Penetanguishene farm. Becky and Ian also embraced a sustainable approach to their wedding planning by reusing many décor pieces and signs from Becky’s cousin’s wedding, which took place at the same family farm a few years earlier.

It was wonderful to see this special location continue to bring families together for unforgettable celebrations.
