Markus & Andrew’s Quedding at the Granite Brewery, Toronto

No, it’s not a typo, it’s a Quedding, a queer wedding. Markus and Andrew preferred to use this term for their celebration which spoke to them in reference to their personal and political identity, and outlook on love and commitment.

As with many other couples during the pandemic, their original plans had to be postponed. They held a small private backyard ceremony prior to this celebration and once it was safe to bring people together, they did just that.

The quedding took place at the Granite Brewery, a cozy space complete with exposed brick, a fireplace and a beautiful back garden.

Much of the decor was DIY. Andrew made the metal archway, the table lanterns and the homemade strawberry jam favours (which was absolutely delicious!). Almost every detail of the event included so many personal touches which made it extra special.

Everything about the day was heartfelt and emotional, from the ceremony to the speeches to Markus’ surprise serenade to Andrew…there wasn’t a dry eye in the house! And to top it all off, a rocking dancefloor which brought everyone together.
