Christine & Robin – Greek Orthodox Wedding at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Cathedral & Reception at Archeo

A Greek Orthodox Wedding at the Annunciation Cathedral & Distillery District Portraits

Christine and Robin’s wedding day was the perfect blend of tradition, romance, and downtown Toronto charm. From a meaningful Greek Orthodox ceremony to golden-hour portraits in the city and a lively reception filled with dancing, their celebration was heartfelt from beginning to end.

A Traditional Ceremony at Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Cathedral

Christine, proudly Greek, was married in a beautiful and deeply symbolic ceremony at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Greek Orthodox weddings are rich in ritual and meaning, and every moment felt intentional and sacred.

From the crowning ceremony to the ceremonial walk around the altar, Christine and Robin were surrounded by family, tradition, and centuries-old customs. The cathedral itself provided a stunning backdrop — ornate details, glowing chandeliers, and an atmosphere that felt both grand and intimate. It was a beautiful way to honour Christine’s heritage and begin their marriage rooted in faith and family.

Distillery District Portraits & a Love Lock Moment

After the ceremony, we headed to the cobblestone streets of the Distillery District for portraits. The historic brick buildings and charming alleyways created the perfect contrast to the grandeur of the cathedral.

Christine and Robin brought along a special detail for their photos: a love lock for the iconic LOVE installation. They fastened their lock together, a sweet and symbolic gesture representing their forever. It was such a fun and personal touch — and made for some truly memorable images.

Between quiet candid moments and playful laughter, their connection was effortless. The Distillery District always delivers visually, but it was their energy that made these portraits so special.

An Intimate Reception at Archeo

The celebration continued at Archeo, where exposed brick walls and candlelight set the tone for an intimate and romantic evening. The speeches were some of the most heartfelt I’ve witnessed — there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Family and friends shared stories that had everyone both tearing up and laughing moments later.

And then… the Greek dancing began.

As soon as the music started, the dance floor filled instantly. Traditional Greek songs brought so much energy to the room — hands linked, circles forming, and guests of all ages joining in. It was joyful, vibrant, and completely contagious.

Evening Portraits to End the Night

Before the night wrapped up, we snuck outside for a few evening portraits. The city lights, the quiet contrast after the lively dance floor, and those final just-married moments created such a romantic ending to their day. There’s something so special about those last few minutes — when everything slows down and it’s just the two of them soaking it all in.

Christine and Robin’s wedding was a beautiful reflection of who they are: sentimental, joyful, deeply connected to family, and ready to celebrate big. It was truly an honour to document a day so full of meaning and love.
