One of the best parts of being a family photographer is getting to watch families grow over the years. I’ve been photographing this wonderful crew since the kids were babies, and every session with them feels more like catching up with old friends than work.
For this shoot, we kept things relaxed and playful by visiting a neighbourhood school playground and a nearby park with a colourful graffiti wall. Locations like these are perfect for family photos because they give kids space to run, climb, and just be themselves.
We started at the playground where the kids immediately took off for the slides and climbing structures. Instead of asking them to stand still too much, I let them play while I captured lots of candid moments—big laughs, racing across the playground, and those sweet in-between moments with their parents. Of course, we also paused for a few quick posed photos so the family could have some classic portraits together.
After that, we walked over to the park where a vibrant graffiti wall made the perfect backdrop. The bold colours added a fun urban feel to the session and gave the kids another place to explore while we captured a mix of relaxed portraits and spontaneous moments.
Sessions like this are always a reminder that the best family photos don’t come from standing still and smiling the whole time. They come from movement, laughter, and letting kids be kids. It’s always such a joy to photograph this family and see how much the kids have grown since the last time we met.
I’m already looking forward to the next one!
