Extended Family Portraits at Humber Arboretum
This extended family portrait session took place at the beautiful Humber Arboretum, one of my favourite spots in the city for relaxed outdoor family photos. With open fields, wooded paths, and plenty of space to move around, it’s a great location for large family gatherings.
This session brought together three generations: grandparents, their three adult daughters, each with their husbands and young children. In total there were 13 people, plus one very cute dog who made sure to join in for a few photos.
Three Generations Together
For large family sessions, we always start with the full group photo while everyone is fresh and the kids are still excited. After capturing the whole family together, we broke things down into smaller combinations: each individual family, the three sisters together, couple shots, each child, and a few candid moments of the kids playing.
A Perfect Setting for Large Family Photos
The natural landscape at Humber Arboretum provided a beautiful backdrop for the session. The greenery, pond and stone walls made it easy for everyone to spread out comfortably, while still keeping the focus on the connections between family members.
Extended family sessions like this are always special. They’re a great opportunity to capture multiple generations together and create photos that grandparents, parents, and kids will all treasure for years to come.
