Kristen & Nick – Toronto Rosewater Supper Club Wedding

An August wedding is a favourite choice for many couples because everything is in full bloom, even in a bustling city like downtown Toronto. Nick and Kristen chose walkable locations for their photography, reflective of their everyday life, living and working in the downtown core.

The bride prepared for the ceremony at One King West Hotel. Kristen and I met Nick and the bridal party at Osgoode Hall for pre-ceremony photography and her big dress reveal. Surrounded by Kristen’s two sisters, and Nick’s sister as bridesmaids, and Nick’s childhood friends who were his groomsmen, the supportive wedding party was as excited about the big day as the happy couple. Adding a sense of fun to the pre-ceremony photography the groomsmen routinely called out to passers-by announcing that their friend was, “GETTING MARRIED TODAY!”

Kristen was stunning in her strapless sweetheart neckline lace gown. The bouquets featured flowers in white, dusty rose, light pink and plum, and perfectly accentuated the bridal party’s attire. The bridesmaids were in lovely deep plum strapless gowns, and the groomsmen in a rich dark blue, accented with coordinating neckties. The Palladian-style building and wrought-iron fence, and ornate iconic gates served as a dramatically beautiful backdrop.

We made our way on foot from Osgoode Hall to the Rosewater Supper Club for the ceremony. The chandeliers were the perfect sparkling accent to the touching ceremony. The theme for the remainder of the night revolved around wine, and the couple were given a moment to ‘let it breathe’ during their trip to the Don Alphonso wine cellar for photos. The bride and groom’s décor included wine corks as place card holders, fairy-lit wine bottles, and custom-made wine bottle lanterns. In addition to toasting with wine, guests also enjoyed the couple’s signature cocktail, and Nick’s drink of choice, an Espresso Martini

During the reception, Kristen and Nick surprised guests with an elaborate, choreographed dance routine to the song “I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain and were in turn rewarded by the groomsmen with a humourous dance to “Electric Avenue” by Eddy Grant later in the evening. Speeches were the perfect mix of funny and emotional. Best man, James, managed to get everyone both laughing and crying during his moving celebration of the couple.

The evening was sealed with a kiss and intimate moonlit portraits of the newlyweds on the downtown Toronto street.

I was introduced to Kristen and Nick through one of Kristen’s colleagues, Christine. To view the photography from Christine & Jerome’s wedding, click HERE.
