Mimi & Devin – Toronto Micro Wedding at Peter Pan Bistro During COVID-19

A Beautiful Fall Micro Wedding in Downtown Toronto

Planning a wedding is always a big undertaking, but doing so during the uncertainty of 2020 made things even more challenging. Like many couples navigating the global pandemic, Mimi and Devin had to adjust their plans, but thankfully only slightly.

Originally, the couple envisioned a small and intimate May wedding at Toronto City Hall followed by dinner nearby at Peter Pan Bistro. While the pandemic required some changes, their overall vision remained wonderfully intact. The date moved to October, the ceremony location shifted to Peter Pan Bistro, and the guest list was trimmed slightly, allowing them to maintain the warm and intimate celebration they had always hoped for.

A Romantic First Look and Fall Portraits

The day began with a romantic first look in the picturesque courtyard of the Sheraton Hotel. After that special moment together, we walked over to Osgoode Hall for portraits. The crisp autumn air and vibrant fall colours created the perfect seasonal backdrop, with beautiful shades of yellow and orange leaves highlighting the charm of the historic grounds.

An Intimate Ceremony at Peter Pan Bistro

From there, it was just a short walk to Peter Pan Bistro, a boutique venue located inside a heritage building dating back to the 1890s. The cozy and character-filled space was beautifully styled with seasonal fall details, including pumpkin centrepieces decorated with red, yellow, and orange flowers.

The ceremony took place in the lower-level outdoor courtyard, where guests were seated in their family bubbles. Mimi and Devin exchanged vows that were both heartfelt and humorous, perfectly reflecting their personalities and leaving hardly a dry eye among their loved ones.

A Cozy Outdoor Reception with Downtown Charm

Following the ceremony, guests moved to the upper-level outdoor patio for dinner. With two outdoor spaces and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Peter Pan Bistro proved to be an ideal venue for a Covid-era micro wedding. Heat lamps kept everyone comfortable as guests enjoyed a delicious four-course gourmet meal together.

Between courses, I stepped out briefly with the bride and groom to capture a few urban portraits along Queen Street West. The gritty downtown textures created a striking contrast to the elegant, neo-classical architecture of Osgoode Hall earlier in the day.

A Wedding Even Better Than Planned

After a few heartfelt speeches and toasts, my coverage of the evening came to an end while the families continued celebrating late into the night. Mimi and Devin later shared that their wedding turned out even better than they had originally imagined. In the end, the intimacy and simplicity of the day brought everyone closer together and made their celebration even more meaningful.
